I'm a philosophy student that tends to post about really serious things unseriously and about really unserious things seriously.

I was once described as a "beautiful, intelligent iguana".

Obama: (on Colorado tragedy) If there was anything to take away from this tragedy it's the reminder that life is very fragile. Our time here is limited and it is precious.

Obama a few days later: Has 9 Pakistani civilians murdered via drone attack including a young girl.

Obama on police brutality: ...

Thomas Kuhn:“Does it really help to imagine that there is some one full, objective, true account of nature, and that the proper measure of scientific achievement is the extent to which it brings us closer to that ultimate goal?,” he wrote in SSR. Well, yes, it would, if we’re trying to show that our knowledge is progressively more in accord with that objective reality. But if that approach is closed to us—”We must learn to get along without anything at all like a correspondence theory of truth,” he wrote in 1986—we need another idea of what truth is and how we can ascertain if we’re progressing closer to it.

Thomas Kuhn (via fast-t-feasts)

Fuck the correspondence theory of truth.

I was on the phone once with my dad back at the old house, and all I was saying was ‘yep’ (I think, it may have been some other innocuous word like that) over and over again with little variation. Finally, after like 10 times in a row, Koontz started counting how many times I said it before getting off the phone. I think I got to about 90 or so before I hung up. And that was like halfway through the conversation.
Good times.
