That’s a good point. It’s obvious why calling someone an ‘illegal’ is hurtful and wrong, I think, especially when there’s more accurate terms to use (my favorite is still ‘NAFTA Refugee’). But I hadn’t ever made the second connection: the bullshit in not applying the same standards to our language practices in regards to corporations. I can’t expect any better, really, I just hadn’t made that connection.
